Tournaments should be fun and engaging, but skill must determine the winner.
Entry & Prizes
- 100% of entry fees will be paid out as prizes.
- Gambling or betting is strictly forbidden.
Age Restriction
- Participants 18 years of age or older are eligible to compete for cash prizes.
- Participants under 18 may compete in a separate bracket but will only be awarded store credit or non-cash prizes.
Match Procedures
- Matches are subject to a time limit. Check each tournament's information page for exact limits.
- Any unfinished game is decided by treasure count. If tied, the first player to have taken treasure wins.
- In a best of 3, the player who lost the previous game chooses whether to go first or second after looking at their starting hand.
Gameplay Rules
- A player may PASS on an opponent's card by saying "Pass" and swiping their hand across the play area. Once passed, the card cannot be taken back.
- There are no take-backs. If your hand leaves the card, it is fair play — unless it constitutes an illegal move.
- In the event of a mutually forgotten rule, the game state will stand and play continues uninterrupted.
- Revealed cards must remain revealed (see page 18 of the rulebook).
Equipment
- All cards must be in plain, fully opaque sleeves. All sleeves must match in brand and color across the entire deck.
Player Conduct
- During a game, players may not communicate with anyone other than competing players or judges.
- The use of mobile phones and writing materials is prohibited during a game.
- Anyone making illegal moves intentionally or repeatedly will be warned or disqualified.
Cheating & Violations
Anyone found to be cheating will be given a warning or immediately disqualified. The following are considered cheating:
- Receiving help or information from another player, person, or any electronic or analog device — unless for documented accessibility or disability purposes.
- Attempting to reveal an opponent's cards through any means other than in-game mechanics.
- Manipulation of cards, the game board, or game state for an unfair advantage.
- The number of cards in hand must be accurately shown or stated when asked. Anyone found hiding or "sleeving" cards will be disqualified.
Any attempt at card, sleeve, or deck manipulation — including edge counting, applying scents to cards, concealing additional cards on your person, or removing cards from play — will result in immediate disqualification and permanent expulsion from all official tournament play.
